Seeing the dating relationship from her point of view.

Girls just want to have fun

Have you ever wondered how your girlfriend views the dating relationship?  You may be surprised to know that she views the process completely different from a guy.  Okay, that is not completely true.  There are aspects of the relationship that are viewed the same whether you are a guy or a girl.  However, knowing the subtle differences can really help you connect with her on a deeper level, and keep you from blowing it big time.

In the Short Term

“Girls just wanna have fun.”  That is true, just like the song says.  Before getting too analytical, it is important to state the obvious.  Girls view the dating relationship as a way to enjoy life and have some fun.

Going out on the town with a great guy, and enjoying some food, dancing, or even a movie can be a great way to unwind after a long and stressful day.  Don’t underestimate the fun factor.  If you want to score big, make sure that you are fun to be around.  That doesn’t mean being juvenile.  Most girls are not into that.  Just be genuinely looking for a fun time, and make sure that your date is enjoying herself.

In the Long Term

Whoa…did I just say the long term?  Don’t get scared!  The truth is that most girls view dating as a way to see if there is a guy that she could possibly develop a long-term relationship.  So there may be girls who are just looking to “hook up,” but most of those are just in the movies or on prime time television.  In reality, girls look at the dating relationship as a way to establish some depth with a guy.

She will be paying attention to whether you remember the little things.  She will be grading your thoughtfulness, attention to detail, ability to remember important events, and whether you “get” her.  Remember that communication is important to most girls.  Dating is a great way for a girl to figure out if this cute guy can actually connect and communicate on a meaningful level.   Does that scare you?

For a girl, the dating relationship is a prelude to something greater.  Again, she may not be looking for a life partner, but chances are good that it will cross her mind.  It all goes back to your attention to detail and your ability to communicate.  Is she busy in her career and just looking for companionship?  Is she looking for a mate?  Does she just need a friend?  If you listen, she will tell you, but probably not in the type of direct communication guys prefer.  Sorry man, it’s gonna take some effort on your part.

Is it complicated?  You bet.  Are you being judged?  You better believe it.  Is she worth it?  Of course she is dude!  Why do you think you are going out with her in the first place!

What do you think ladies? Have I nailed it?  What would you add to the list?  How exactly do you view the dating relationships you get into?  Please take a moment and leave some feedback.  If you think I am totally off base, then please feel free to chime in and set me straight!  Thanks!
